About QWER

QWER (Korean: 큐더블유이알), a striking South Korean girl band, has emerged under the banners of 3Y Corporation and Tamago Production, marking their bold entrance into the music scene on October 18, 2023, with their debut single album, “Harmony from Discord.”

The Origin of Their Name

Derived from the iconic QWERTY keyboard layout, the name QWER resonates with the gaming community, particularly referencing the primary keys used in popular online games like League of Legends. This connection extends even to their fandom, affectionately named 바위게 (Scuttle Crab), paying homage to the same multiplayer universe.

The Journey to Formation

The inception of QWER was through a unique initiative dubbed the “QWER Project,” a YouTube series orchestrated to forge a girl group from renowned female online figures. Spearheaded by Tamago Production, an endeavor by YouTuber and content creator Kim-Gyeran, in alliance with 3Y Corporation, the project chronicled the selection, training, and everyday life anecdotes of the quartet.

Before becoming the faces of QWER, each member had already carved out their niches online. Chodan and Magenta were known for their engaging streams on Twitch, Hina had captured a substantial following as a cosplayer and content creator on TikTok, and Siyeon brought her experience as a former part of the Japanese idol group NMB48 to the table.

From Debut to Present

QWER’s music voyage officially kickstarted with the release of “Harmony from Discord” on October 18, 2023. The album made its first public appearance during a debut showcase at Musinsa Garage, Seoul, where the electrifying track “Discord” clinched the 5th spot on Spotify’s “Viral 50 – Japan”. It also enjoyed a commendable stint of 21 weeks on the YouTube Music’s “Korea Weekly Top Songs” chart, starting at #88 upon release.

Fast forward to March 18, 2024, QWER tantalized their fans with the news of an impending comeback. Marking this announcement, they delivered a surprise performance of “T.B.H (고민중독)”, a then-unreleased single from their forthcoming EP, at a military base visit. Their eagerly awaited first EP, “Manito,” was unveiled on April 1, accompanied by a showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul, presenting the new tracks to the world for the first time.
